The Cloudsurfer Next is a forward-looking neutral running shoe from On, built for daily training, road running, and tempo work. It aims to bring smoother transitions, more bounce, and better responsiveness than its predecessors.

Key Features & Tech

• CloudTec® Phase midsole
  A major redesign for On: the CloudTec Phase cushioning collapses in sequence from heel to toe, creating a more fluid roll-through of each stride. 

• Helion™ superfoam (refined version)
  This foam has been reworked to offer increased bounce and energy return, while still providing good cushioning underfoot. 

• Forefoot rocker design
  The front of the shoe has a pronounced rocker shape to help with propulsion off the toe, making pick-ups or faster runs feel more dynamic. 

• Upper construction
  A new engineered woven upper, inspired by On’s race-day shoes, gives a sleek, seamless fit. Improved tongue and eye stays give better lockdown. The materials prioritize breathability and a lighter feel. 

• Outsole
  Updated rubber pads in high-wear zones ensure durability and grip both in wet and dry conditions.

Performance & Use Cases

• Ride feel: More structured and slightly firmer than some of On’s more cushioned “cloudy” models. It delivers a smooth yet lively ride, especially feeling efficient in mid-pace and tempo runs. Reviews mention it as less “pillowy” but more responsive. 

• Best for: Runners who want a versatile trainer that can handle easy runs, tempo efforts, and perhaps some longer runs without being overly soft or wobbly. Good for neutral runners who like some bounce and decent propulsion. 

• Not ideal for: Those who prefer a very soft plush ride, or who need maximal cushioning for very long recovery runs. Also, some testers felt grip could be better in very wet conditions.
